Custom Orthotics and GaitScan Analysis
Your feet have a direct impact on your entire body as it supports all the weight of your body. A subtle change in the way you walk or run will cause a chain reaction of misalignment in your joints which can lead to stressing the joints in the ankle, knee, hip and spine.
Faulty foot mechanics can contribute to the following conditions:
- Heel or arch pain, plantar fasciitis
- Bunions or hammer toes
- Shin splints
- Sports Injury
- Grinding in the knee, knee pain
- Hip or back pain
How can custom orthotics help?
Custom orthotics at Absolute PhysioCare & Sports Rehab in Burnaby are designed to correct and eliminate foot abnormalities and restore the normal balance in the body which will reduce the stress off the joints causing less fatigue and pain.
Custom orthotics provides shock absorption, extra cushioning, support, reduced pressure in the foot resulting in relief and greater comfort while walking, running, or playing sports.
Advantages of 3D Digital Gait Analysis
At Absolute PhysioCare & Sports Rehab, we use a state of the art computer hardware and software system that provides a detailed analysis of your feet in motion as you walk over a foot plate.
The foot plate has 4096 sensors and a scan rate of 300Hz (frames per second), GaitScan™ is the industry leader in dynamic scanning capabilities. The pressure mapping technology allows our physiotherapists to view underlying problems with your foot function and gait-patterns (walking patterns).
This analysis in combination with a physical examination and assessment of your feet will assist the physiotherapist in providing you with a custom made orthotic based on your specific needs. This will also determine if an orthotic prescription would be of benefit to you.
